This is the story. You will read this story and assume the role of detective. Your job is to gather the facts and collect evidence, question people involved int he case. Mable is a 45 year old woman. She is a middle class woman with a taste for the finer things in life. She has a job at a hotel and pretty much runs things. She isn’t the boss, but has been there long enough to do as she pleases. She had a cancer scare and is on lots of medicine. She also likes to drink. She refuses to drive or even work when she has been drinking. She likes to call her friends or other people she knows when she has been drinking. She gets really mean and nasty when she calls them. She usually leaves the person crying after listening to what she has to say. She quits her job when she is drinking. She always comes back after a while. She has dated a man for a little over three years and she treats him really badly. She has recently broken things off with him after discovering that he was talking to another woman on the internet. He has spent lots of money on her and did anything she wanted but she refused to move in with him in another city. Her daughter is a spoiled brat. They have had a rocky relationship. Her dad recently passed away and she was the sole beneficiary of his life insurance policy. Mable is upset that her daughter got all that money. She was married to him for all those years and put up with all of his abusive behavior. Her and her daughter recently had a fight over money and aren’t talking. Her co workers are Susan, her boss. They are best friends and have a fight. Mable feels like Susan is being too demanding and needs to get off of her case. Susan wants Mable to work like she is supposed to and to stop drinking. She is fed up with the quitting and the abusive words and the harassing phone calls. Janice, her other co worker, has just begun to be friends with Mable. They were sworn enemies for a few years. Janice tries to be neutral as she is usually caught in the middle. She comes into her job at the hotel and learns that Mable has fought with Susan and quit. Susan is crying and explains the ordeal. Janice consoles her but is mad because Mable is supposed to work for her tomorrow. Later, Mable calls Janice and tells her what happened. She assures Janice that she will work for her tomorrow. Later that night Mable shows up at the hotel where Janice is working. She is dressed up really nice. She appears to be drunk. She is slurring her words and swaying as she walks. She begs Janice to go out and have a drink with her. Janice tells her she can’t because she is working and has no one to relieve her. Mable is set on going out and having a drink. Janice tries to talk her out of it but she is set on going out. Janice knows the bar manager at a local restaurant, sos he calls him and asks if she sends a friend over to the bar will he keep an eye on her and make sure she is safe. He says yes, so Janice tells Mable. Mable leaves to go to the restaurant, but before going she hands Janice an box. In the box is a pair of gold earrings and a gold necklace. Janice says she cant accept them, but Mable tells her she wont take no for an answer. Mable goes to the restaurants bar, she calls Janice and tells her that she is having a glass of wine, and then she whispers that she sees one of her neighbors. She hates this man. He is a obese man and one of her neighbors. She has a bad history with him and his wife. She says that she has to go and will call her back. She calls back ten minutes later and says that she had words with the man and he left. She now wants to go to a nightclub across the highway. She is unsure of where its at and wants directions. Janice tries to explain where it is. She says she will find it. About 30 minutes later, Mable calls Janice back and tells her that she is at the nightclub and it is so fun. Janice asks her how she got there . Mable says she got lost but some kids were there and she asked them how to get there and they took her in their car. They were too young to get into the club, so she said goodbye tot hem. She was talking about this man that was flirting with her and buying her drinks. She said it was so much fun and that when she gets off work she should come and join her. Janice has no intentions of going but tells her that she’ll see when she gets off. Later, around 3 am, Susan gets a phone call from Mable. Mble curses Susan out and tells her she quits and never wants to see her or talk to her again. The next day, Janice calls Mable at home to check on her and find out if she is working for her or not, but gets no answer. She emails her but gets no response. Susan calls to talk to her, but no answer. Two days go by with no answer, and Janice decides to go to Mables home and check on her. She arrives at her house and Mable’s car isn’t there, but decides to go knock on the door. No answer. She leaves a note letting her know that she is worried and to please call. A week goes by and no word from Mable. Two weeks go by, still no word. After the third week, Susan and Janice call Mable’s landlord as they don’t know how to get up with her daughter who they assume that she is staying with. The landlord says he hasn’t seen or heard from her in a month. He says her mail is piling up and her rent is due. She is late and has never been late. He says he knows her daughters number and will call and see if she is there. He calls her daughter and she hasn’t talked to her mom in a month and a half. She has a key to the house and decides to go and see whats going on. She walks in the house and finds her mom dead on the floor behind the door. She is dressed in her nightgown and is decaying. The police are called and they start their investigation
